Private land conservation (PLC) is essential for protecting Alberta's natural landscapes and the ecosystem services they provide. The Miistakis Institute has partnered with ten land trusts and other organizations that participate in PLC to better understand the collective impact of PLC efforts across the province.
To support this work, we developed a database that integrates data provided by participating land trusts. Using input from our partner organizations, we identified key metrics that highlight the value of PLC across three key themes:
While climate change is not presented as a stand-alone theme, many of the selected metrics contribute significantly to climate change resiliency.
